In recent years, CSS staff has
put more emphasis on prevention services, particularly for at-risk
youth. This programming includes using Lakota Circle of Hope, a
classroom based prevention curriculum developed by staff and Lakota
advisors, local media (radio and
newspaper) to provide prevention education, and after-school recreation that focuses on character
building and leadership skills, challenging these young people to
dream of a world better than the one they inhabit. |

We have partnered with local churches, Juvenile Detention Programs, Alternative Schools, Youth Centers, colleges and schools to offer services to youth. Staff regularly offers groups and individual counseling services at the Rapid City, Kyle and St. Francis Juvenile Detention Centers. In addition, we work with local schools to offer culturally appropriate prevention curriculum focusing on addiction, violence, promiscuity, and suicide. |

After school recreational groups focused on building character are also offered at select locations. Every year staff helps facilitate the Body, Mind and Soul, a summer day camp hosted by the Rosebud Educational Society. |

CSS staff also offers
prevention services for adults. Weekly talking circle groups dealing
with anger management and corrective thinking are offered on-going in
St. Francis. Staff in other locations offer individual counseling
services for those struggling with all forms of addiction. |
